Our Story
We are Cherie and Alicia, two pediatric Speech-Language Pathologists who share a passion for helping families unlock their autistic child's communication. In our careers it was so clear to us that the moms who sought out our expertise and who worked diligently at home in between the speech sessions created progress for their children that was exponentially greater than speech therapy alone. As speech therapists who have been working for many years with children and families, we saw success with late talkers when using the traditional therapy strategies we were trained in. However, we realized more and more that traditional speech therapy strategies were not working for autistic communicators because all of the approaches were skipping over THE missing piece. As we became increasingly frustrated with how many of us were working with strategies that didn’t work, we realized that there must be a better way. For a child to communicate, they must first be engaged and having fun to realize that it is worth it to communicate. From this core belief, we discovered the missing piece that completely changed the game for the autistic communicators that we were working with. And we believe that there is no one better than you to work on the missing piece right at home within your already existing routines.
